Many people know how to count calories in their food and meals.
But do they know the CO₂-equivalent of this food or how much water was necessary to produce it? Today we would like to show you how to calculate these factors and be able to prepare a climate-friendly Christmas meal.It was put together by Eaternity together with Hiltl (a vegetarian restaurant in Zurich) for our advent calendar on sustainability.

In Switzerland 49 environmental organizations started an initiative for sustainable printing and to reduce the carbon footprint. In the United States several companies in California are also follow good sustainability practices.

Today we introduce three recipes with ready-made dough and take a closer look at one of the essential ingredient namely palm oil. The oil is increasingly supplied by sustainable plantations.

Urban Green used to be concentrated in parks and hedges, taken care of by municipal gardeners. The newest development is that all over the world people are taking the initiative and planting their own gardens, vegetables and trees in their cities. Gardening, agriculture and beekeeping are being taken up on buildings, rooftops, areas between buildings, and even interiors. These communities are growing at a startling pace. New and seemingly unconventional ideas are being implemented. New York has the biggest number of urban gardeners, for example. But people are taking action in other cities too. Although people are migrating to cities, apparently, they still want to maintain their contact with nature.
